THE ROMAN AQUEDUCT "PEÑA CORTADA"
The Peña Cortada's roman aqueduct, located between Tuéjar, Chelva and Calles, is an enormous hydraulic system built by romans at the end of the 1st century AC or the beginnings of the 2nd century AC. This is one of the most important and longest roman monuments of Spain, with nearly 30 km in length.
The monument has been declared Cultural Inheritage Site by the Government of Valencia, and it is made of a complex net of channels. It comprises not only several bridge aqueducts but also channels and tunnels. Among the remains, the Cueva del Gato (cat cave) bridge is the best preserved with 36m in length and 30m height. The main channel was digged in a rocky ground for at least 300 metres. For great part of its length the channel turns into tunnels with windows on a side through which it is possible to enjoy the amazing landscape surrounding this ancient site.
The aqueduct can be visited acceding by the CV-346 highway to Ahíllas, and then take the first turn-off to the right after passing the bullfighting ring. The road comes to an esplanade that leads onto the aqueduct, four kilometres ahead. The way to the aqueduct is clearly sign-posted.

The Remedio's Peak is the main landmark that dominates the town of Chelva. Despite is not the tallest peak of the region, from here it is possible to overlook the whole county. The sights from the top of the mountain are astonishing, specially during clear days. Around the Sanctuary there are several picnic areas and a terrace bar where you can have a meal enjoying the landscape views. The area is suitable for practising outdoor sports, such as cycling, trekking or hiking. The peak is accessible by driving by the highway between Chelva and Ahíllas. After 5 km take the track on the left hand side to the top of the peak.

WATER ROUTE AND TUÉJAR-CHELVA RIVER SOURCES
CHELVA WATER ROUTE
Chelva Water Route is a touristic itinerary (two-hour long by walk) starting at the City Hall square of Chelva. The pedestrian route walks by the historic quarters of the village, its fountains, and goes along the the most beautiful spots of the local river. The information panels and indications show the way all round the route.
The path continues to the playeta (little beach), the next stop along the route. The playeta is a beautiful spot carved out by the river Chelva, where its waterfalls and pools have made it a traditional bathing-site. The sand accumulated on the bank is what gives it its name: playeta. The narrowing of the river and the lush vegetation create some spectacular sights.

The Tuéjar-Chelva river sources are located 1 km before arriving in Tuéjar following the highway CV-35. At this point, there is a turn-off to the right hand just beside TOURIST INFO ALTO TURIA. Following this track we get to the sources of the river after 5 km driving through a canyon surrounded by an amazing mediterranean lanscape. Area suitable for cycling, trekking, hiking, and other outdoor & leisure activities, BQ available. This is one of the best river bathing-site of the county.

The Turia river flows into this area through deep valleys and rugged canyons surrounded by woodland and riverside vegetation. Several outdoor & adventure activities can be performed such as trekking, hiking, climbing, bungee jumping, rowing, and some other aquatic sports. Some companies organize several activities related with active tourism such as: trekking, mountain biking races, quads, horse riding and paintball.

The Benagéber dam is one of the biggest of Valencia province and deserves a visit. At the holiday resort of Benagéber are available many equipments for practising aquatic and adventure sports during summer season such as quads, rappel, rowing, and canoeing. This area is less than 30 minutes away from Casa Rural Taure by drive. The way goes through a sight-seeing road.

PALEONTOLOGICAL DEPOSITS IN LOS SERRANOS
The principal paleontological deposits of Los Serranos are located within the municipal districts of Alpuente, Aras de los Olmos, Losilla de Aras, La Yesa, and other villages. These towns are about 1h and a half away from Valencia by driving, and 30 minutes from Casa Rural Taure. Most of the fossils of dinosaurs and some of the remains of other animals found within the Valencian Community have been discovered in this area. Recently has been opened the Paleontological Museum of Alpuente (MUPAL).

ASTRONOMICAL CENTER ALTO TURIA (CAAT)
The Astronomical Center of Alto Turia (CAAT) is situated on top of Santa Catalina's Peak (1.315 m) in Aras de los Olmos (101 km away from Valencia), and placed 30 minutes away from Casa Rural Taure. This area is characterized by a low degree of light pollution originated from the city of Valencia, therefore the conditions for observations and the sky transparency are unique. This astronomical observatory is the most important of the Valencian Community, and one of the most technologically advanced of Spain. The Center is currently managed both by the Valencian Association of Astronomy and the University of València.

The Mountain Range of Javalambre is situated in Teruel 2h away from Valencia by driving, and less than 1h from Casa Rural Taure. The tallest mountains of the range raise up to 2.020 m height, and there is a chance for practising winter sports at the local ski resort of Javalambre (140 km from Valencia). The quiteness and preservation of this environment make possible to enjoy the wonderful landscape of the high up vegetation. Many of the paleontological deposits of the province of Teruel are located around this area.
